Insticator Posts
I used to intern for a startup that (at the time) was a place for TV fans to socialize while making predictions, participating in polls about their favorite TV shows and characters, and winning real prizes like gift cards and iPods. All of these posts were for the website's corresponding Tumblr page.
#WCW - Tatiana Maslany
Known mostly for her role as, well, every main character on the hit BBC show Orphan Black, it’s hard not to find a reason to crush on Tatiana. If you’ve watched the show (which we highly recommend that you do) you know that her range of characters in the Clone Club stretches much farther than any Eddie Murphy or Tyler Perry movie ever could.
#OrangeIsTheNewBlackout - Extra Salty Dog
If you learned anything from season 1 of Orange is the New Black, it’s that Healy can hold a grudge. From denying any lesbian requests to turning a blind-eye on the whole Piper/Pennsatucky showdown, Healy is one bitter and jealous man and he isn’t afraid to show it! This drink takes the traditional Salty Dog and turns it up a notch.
#OrangeIsTheNewBlackout - Red Headed Russian
This was definitely the hardest drink concept to pull off because the fruit flavor of a Red-Headed Slut and the coffee flavor of a White Russian don’t go together at all but I took some inspiration from theKitchen Queen herself, and got innovative with my approach.
#OrangeIsTheNewBlackout - Bloody Virgin Mary
Get it?!?!? This drink celebrates everyone’s favorite meth-head Jesus freak and the bloody pulp that she got beaten into at the end of season 1. Best of all, you don’t have to be 21 to partake in this #OrangeIsTheNewBlackout exclusive drink and it’s sure to cure any hangovers from drinking too many Litchfield Lemonades and Red-Headed Russians while binging the premier.
#OrangeIsTheNewBlackout - Litchfield Lemonade
What better way to toast the premier of OITNB season 2 than with some Orange-inspired takes on some traditional cocktails! We took the classic Lynchburg Lemonade and made it, well, orange (or at least attempted to. It’s a little more pink but let’s pretend.) I know I’ll definitely be drinking these while we stay up all night watching the entire season as it drops so that we can bring you the most up-to-date coverage and predictions!
The Internet Wants Megan Draper Murdered - Why I Don't Think It Will Actually Happen
Here at Insticator we take TV personally, and no one’s taken this season of Mad Men more personally than I have, especially when it comes to the Megan Draper/Sharon Tate conspiracy theory. I want it. We all want it. They know how badly we want it. But I don’t think they’re going to give it to us.
Recap: Mad Men - 7.07 - Waterloo
“I have to talk to people who just touched the face of God about hamburgers.” The mid-season finale served as a satisfying farewell to the golden era, to relationships, and even to a few loved ones, but I don’t know if any send-off, no matter how grandiose, can keep me satisfied until mid-2015. I’M NOT READY TO LET GO!!
Recap: Mad Men 7.06 - The Strategy
“What if there was a place you could go where there was no TV, and you could break bread, and anyone who you were sitting with was family?”
If I had to sum up last night’s episode in two words it would be “aww, yay!” Although there were some bittersweet moments, last night’s episode was more or less one big ol’ hug-fest.
Recap: Mad Men - 7.04 - The Monolith
Man versus machine, man versus himself, man versus a hippie commune. We saw it all in last night’s episode of Mad Men. A show that never fails to deliver on an exploration of human emotion as well as a hyper-accurate portrayal of the rapidly changing times, last night’s episode seemed to dive in head-first.
Recap: Mad Men - 7.03 - Field Trip
When we last left Don, he was still using Dawn as his personal secretary, barely sustaining the illusion that he’s still a part of SC&P despite the fact that the majority of his day is spent in pajamas. This episode opens on more of the same, only now Dawn has a new role at SC&P that comes with a lot more responsibility than running Don’s errands. Looks like everyone’s got a little bit of adjusting to do.
Recap: Mad Men 7.02 - A Day’s Work
Love is far from in the air this Valentine’s Day at Sterling Cooper and Associates. Don spends the day drinking and watching the Little Rascals alone in his apartment (well, not completely alone thanks to his new cockroach roomate), Ginsberg and Stan rib Peggy in the elevator on the way to work for being drastically single, and Roger, much to his amusement, gets called an ethnic slur that I learned from my grandfather.
Recap: Mad Men 7.01 - Time Zones
“Are you ready? Cause I want you to pay attention. This is the beginning of something” Freddie Rumsen starts, staring straight into your soul as he delivers the pitch of a lifetime - his or anyone else’s lifetime, for that matter - and knocks it out of the park. Sounds completely implausible, right? Well that’s exactly how season 7 of Mad Men opened up.
